Class with Market Tour

Le Pistou offers this class on Wednesdays only as Saturday markets are too busy and the merchants won’t really have time to talk to you or let you taste their wares… Our award-winning Uzes Wednesday market is where local producers sell their just-picked produce and home-made wares.   Because the market gets crowed very in summer, we start at 9am.  We meet outside Restaurant Terroirs on the Place aux Herbes and then go shopping together for whatever fabulous produce is in season.

The food…

Think fish from this morning’s catch, or sparkling fresh asparagus… Think sun-ripened tomatoes in a plethora of colours, shiny aubergines, baby artichokes, fresh broad- or the local, seasonal coco beans, luscious peaches and sun-warmed figs… Or how about those young purple garlic or the bright yellow courgette flowers which open their petals just long enough to be stuffed by you?  Now add to this some perfectly matured goats’ cheeses and a crispy baguette from my neighbour’s tiny bakery and we have a feast! 

You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions and chat to the stall keepers. And then, with our baskets brimming, we’ll walk the 5 minutes back to the school, ready to start chopping, peeling, grating and whisking.  To keep ourselves focused we may need some help (a glass of bubbly usually does the trick) where we’re chatting and sharing tales of wisdom while we cook.

This course costs €165 per person all inclusive. We need a minimum of 6 people to run a course and there's room for maximum 8.
