2013 Mixed Creative Art Week 13 - 20 Oct
This is a week for anyone interested in DISCOVERING their potential or CREATIVE SELF in an informal and relaxed, yet hugely stimulating environment.
Each day is devoted to a different practice within the creative arts... For instance on CREATIVE WRITING DAY we start with some valuable exercises that trigger memories and bring to the surface both inspiration and imagination. We will then put our newly acquired skills into practice with various projects.
On CREATIVE PHOTOGRAPHY DAY we shall take you to some stunning locations (remember that the countryside will be ablaze with autumn colours) to show you how to get the best out of your camera. We'll concentrate on composition, light and perspective.
On CREATIVE COOKING DAY we don't simply follow recipes - we learn to CREATE OUR OWN by using a method of combining flavours and ingredients that go well together. The results can be re-invented into a new personal cuisine that can be adapted to the ingredients of each new season...
On PAINTING DAY we experiment with plenty of new techniques and different media. You choose: oils, acrylics, ink, watercolours... stillife, portrait, landscape...
On our final day you may either try your hand at Photoshop or alternatively, return to a previous subject - painting a canvas, writing a short story... Your tutor will be available continuously... and all materials are provided.
All creative sessions start with a useful EXERCISE or TECHNIQUE which you will want to turn to again and again in the future - to help inspire or trigger an idea, to 'loosen the hand', "focus the eye' or simply use as an easy way to get the imaginative juices flowing..
There will be TWO DAYS-OFF - when you can choose to do whatever you like: cycle along the Canal du Midi, walk through the vines, visit a Roman or Medieval city for sightseeing or shopping, go for a walk on the beach... We can suggest itineraries and arrange your transport.
Naturally, because this is the South of France, there will also be plenty of RELAXATION around the table with beautiful FOOD and WINE. We've included a visit to the Medieval Walled City of Carcassonne and as well as to Narbonne's famous food market and a few other excursions including a boat trip on the Canal du Midi.
