WHAT THE WEEK IS ABOUT...
This is a week of total immersion into anything that's quintessential French - French LANGUAGE, French CULTURE, French FOOD and WINE TASTINGS in a French winemaker's cellars, and of course visits to French FOOD MARKETS, French COSMOPOLITAN CITIES and shops the likes of which can only be found in FRANCE...
Another great French concept, the UNESCO-endorsed CANAL DU MIDI, will provide us with the perfect spot for yet another French invention: the water-side PIQUE-NIQUE. We'll discover more about the history and pleasures of the Canal on a BOAT TRIP, and we shall visit a truly French institution called the VIDE-GRENIER (literally meaning 'empty-the-attic' - an amateur antique fair). Naturally a taste of the Languedoc would not be complete without a visit to the MEDIEVAL WALLED CITY of CARCASSONNE...
Our delightful (and adored!) French teacher joins us from Dublin: the ultra stylish SHIREEN MARCUS who has taught French in her inimitable fashion for years...
Part of each day will be spent learning French through Shireen's lessons and during various excursions, but for those interested there will also be the opportunity learn to cook modern and French dishes during cookery demonstrations...
The course is limited to 8 people. It is informal and fun. There is one single room, otherwise prices are based on two people sharing and double rooms may carry a single occupancy supplement.
